Exploratory Writing W2A

There is an interesting phenomenon. As we continue to grow up, we always like to explore the past. As technology evolves and humans continue to integrate with it, we gradually become post-human. Nowadays, we are skilled in applying various types of technology. The Internet has also become inseparable from people. We can't even imagine how we would survive and interact with the world without the Internet and technology. Everything technology looks to have moved to a mature stage. Exploring decades-old web pages and technology has also become one of the post-human likes. It is undeniable that the Internet carries the memories of many people and has also witnessed technological development. I think the early Internet art is also a representative of a culture. It represents the aesthetics as well as the fashion trends of artists in the past era. In one video, Olia Lialina's Internet art of the 90s can be a good demonstration of the Internet and memories of that era. I was impressed by her "My Boyfriend Came Back From The War." Her web art uses a lot of hyperlinks and provides a lot of fun for users and viewers. The web pages are minimalistic but can make people think a lot. Even the early simple and not fully functional web art can show the diversity of the internet age. In the early days of GeoCities, people posted pictures, text, and Gifs about themselves, and the pages looked very artistic. Today's Internet pages have an immaculate and crisp layout. Most of the pages have white backgrounds and black fonts. I don't think people should focus only on the functionality of the web page. Exploring early Internet pages helps younger generations understand the culture and art of the past.

It's hard to imagine that in just 30 years, the Internet has evolved from a single sentence and a single page at the beginning to the point where you can find everything from the Internet. I'm sure Internet designers spend a lot of time exploring the capabilities of the Internet. The Internet has made life easier for people. Collecting early Internet pages is a great thing. Over time, many of the early Internet pages have slowly disappeared. The Internet pages' personality has become stronger and stronger, but much of the history of the Internet has been lost. For the younger generation, the Internet is all-powerful. One could find all places by opening Google Maps; one could find all information by simply typing in a question, but many young people don't know what the Internet was like in the 1990s. By watching these two videos, I think preserving early Internet pages is as important as protecting artifacts. Post-humans need to understand and maintain the history of the Internet. More and more people are becoming concerned about preserving knowledge and culture. This plays an important role in understanding the culture of the Internet.
